Transmitter Systems Covered

Invisible Fence® Brand systems come in several generations, each requiring its own compatible receiver collar. The most common transmitters in use today are the 700 Series, the 800 Series (ICT-801 and ICT-802), and the Boundary Plus™. Within each series, collars are further divided by frequency — either 7K or 10K — which must match your transmitter's setting exactly.

Important: Using the wrong collar with your transmitter will result in the collar not activating in the boundary zone. Always confirm your system's series and frequency before ordering a replacement collar.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I tell whether a collar will work with my system just by looking at the collar model?
No. The model alone is not enough to confirm compatibility. Some collars look identical on the outside but are configured for different systems or frequency settings. That is why it is important to check your transmitter settings, not just the collar model.
Do I need to remove the transmitter cover to confirm compatibility?
In many cases, yes. The transmitter's internal settings are often the only reliable way to confirm which collar you need.
What collar works with the Invisible Fence® 700 Series transmitter?
The 700 Series transmitter works with 700 Series receiver collars. When ordering a replacement, choose a collar that matches your transmitter's frequency setting, either 7K or 10K. What collar works with the Invisible Fence® Boundary Plus™ system?
When set to SSP-A mode, Boundary Plus systems use Boundary Plus-compatible receiver collars. If the transmitter is set to Outdoor mode, it can also work with 800 Series collars. When ordering a replacement, choose a collar that matches your transmitter's frequency setting, either 7K or 10K. Can I use a 700 Series collar on an 800 Series system?

Sometimes. It depends on whether the Boundary Plus transmitter is set to Outdoor mode and whether the frequency matches.
What do SSP-A and Outdoor mean on a Boundary Plus transmitter?
These settings determine which type of receiver collars the transmitter can communicate with. SSP-A mode works with Boundary Plus receiver collars only. Outdoor mode works with Boundary Plus receiver collars and 800 Series receiver collars. When set to Outdoor mode, either type of receiver will function as a standard receiver without Boundary Plus-specific features. No matter which mode your system is using, when ordering a replacement you should choose a collar that matches your transmitter's 7K or 10K frequency setting.
What is the 8xx/7xx setting on the Invisible Fence® ICT-801?
Some ICT-801 transmitters have an 8xx/7xx setting that determines whether the unit uses 800 Series collars or 700 Series collars. Not all ICT-801 boards have this setting. The compatibility tool above will help you identify whether your unit has it and what it means for collar compatibility.
What is the difference between 7K and 10K frequency?
7K and 10K are two different frequency settings used for communication between the transmitter and receiver collar. They are not different collar models or feature levels — they are simply different system settings. When ordering, choose a collar set for the same frequency as your transmitter.
How do I choose the correct collar frequency?
Remove the transmitter cover to check its frequency setting, then choose a collar set for the same frequency, either 7K or 10K.
How do I find out whether my ICT-801 uses 7K or 10K?
To check the frequency on an ICT-801, remove the cover and look for the indicator light next to the 7K or 10K label. The illuminated light shows your setting. Some versions may also have other settings that affect compatibility, so the compatibility tool is the easiest way to make sure you choose the correct collar.
What is the difference between the grey-case ICT-801 and the blue-case ICT-801?
The outside color does not always tell you what settings your transmitter has. The important differences are on the internal board. ICT-801 units were made with different board versions, including black and green boards. Both have frequency settings, and some also include the 8xx/7xx setting. The best way to confirm compatibility is to remove the cover and use the compatibility tool.
What is Boundary Plus®?
Boundary Plus® is Invisible Fence's branded in-ground containment technology. In simple terms, it is a wired underground pet fence system designed to give pets more usable yard space by starting the correction zone closer to the wire.
Why do none of the photos match my system?
Many electronic dog fence systems are often referred to generically as "invisible fences" or "invisible dog fences," but Invisible Fence® is a specific brand. If your unit does not show the Invisible Fence® Brand name, there is a good chance you have a different brand. If so, feel free to contact SparkyStay for help identifying your system.
