How to make sure your DogGuard collar and transmitter work together
Most DogGuard collars and transmitters will work together right out of the box. But if your collar is older or uses a different frequency or mode, you may need to adjust the settings.
Quick Overview
Frequencies:
🔹 7K (Yellow Sticker)
🔹 10K (Blue Sticker)
Modes:
🔒 Encoded
🔓 Non-Encoded
⚠️ All components must match — same frequency and same mode — or the system won’t function correctly.
🔍 How to Identify Your Collar’s Settings
1. Look for the color sticker on the collar:
– Yellow = 7K frequency
– Blue = 10K frequency
2. Not sure of the mode (Encoded or Non-Encoded)?
– Test your receiver with a transmitter to see which mode it responds to.
– If there’s no sticker, test both frequencies manually.
🛠️ How to Check or Change Your Transmitter Settings
1. Remove the cover:
– Unscrew the four corner screws on the transmitter case.
– On RT-2 models, remove the rubber feet first to access the screws underneath.
2. Locate the black jumper tabs inside:
You should see black tabs with labels like: – OFF – 7K – OFF – NEW
3. What the labels mean:
OFF – 7K
• If the tab is OFF, the transmitter is set to 7K frequency.
• If the tab is ON, it’s set to 10K frequency.
OFF – NEW
• If the tab is OFF, the system is set to Encoded mode.
• If the tab is ON, it’s set to Non-Encoded mode.
🔧 Some transmitters can only do Encoded or Non-Encoded. If you don’t see an OFF – NEW tab, then your transmitter’s mode is fixed and cannot be changed.
🔎 Pro Tips
• Instead of removing the black tabs entirely, just shift them over one pin. This keeps them inside the case but in the OFF position.
• Jumper tab positions may vary between different transmitter models. As long as the labels match what’s described, you’re good to go.
Examples
Tabs OFF or shifted to the side
→ System is in 7K frequency and Encoded mode

Second tab placed fully on connector
→ System is in 7K frequency and Non-Encoded mode
